How I got quoting out of my head

For years every price lived in my head. Someone rings, I think about the house, the pest, the travel, and I say a number. Nobody else could quote, so every enquiry waited for me.

So I wrote it down. A price sheet with the rules that pick the price, so a quote is a lookup and not a judgement call. My VA quotes standard residential jobs straight from it, and the system won't let a price go out that isn't on the sheet. It can't be talked past.

Where it's at: half fixed. The everyday jobs are written down and quoted without me. The bigger and stranger jobs, termite work especially, still come back to me.
